Black In HR Launches Chapters Nationwide, Starting With Houston and Dallas

Updated: Feb 11

Black In HR is officially expanding its footprint across the country. What began as a national professional community for Black HR professionals is now growing into a network of local chapters designed to create stronger connections, deeper engagement, and more access to career-building opportunities at the city level.

The nationwide chapter launch begins with Houston and Dallas, two major hubs for Black professional talent and HR leadership. From there, Black In HR plans to expand into Austin, Nashville, Washington, DC, New York City, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and additional cities as the organization continues to scale its impact and reach.

The purpose of the chapter expansion is clear. Black In HR is committed to bringing Black HR professionals together locally to foster authentic relationships, share real-world resources, and support career advancement, particularly for those pursuing leadership roles and six-figure careers in Human Resources.

“Black In HR has always been about access, community, and growth,” said Amber Chatham, President of the Dallas Chapter of Black In HR. “Launching chapters nationwide allows us to create intentional spaces for Black HR professionals to connect, learn, and lead together. Dallas is proud to be part of this next chapter.”

“Dallas is filled with incredible HR talent and strategic leaders,” said Camuriel Carpenter, Director of Partnerships for the Dallas Chapter. “Our focus is building strong partnerships that pour directly into our members and create real opportunities for visibility, development, and advancement within this market.”

Each local chapter will host curated events that blend professional development with meaningful community building. Programming will include certification information sessions, leadership conversations, networking experiences, and social gatherings designed to feel welcoming, relevant, and purposeful.

Unlike other professional associations, Black In HR membership provides access to every chapter nationwide under one membership. With organizations such as SHRM, professionals join at the national level but may have to purchase separate memberships to participate locally. Black In HR takes a different approach. One membership gives you full access to every chapter across the country.

“In Dallas, we are intentional about member experience,” said Tanicka Kirk, Dallas Chapter VP leading the Member Engagement Committee. “When you join Black In HR, you are not just joining one city. You gain access to every chapter nationwide. If you are traveling, you can attend local events at no charge, and our hospitality team will help guide you to the best restaurants, nightlife, and other places of interest. We want our members to feel supported wherever they go.”

The Houston and Dallas chapters serve as the foundation for what members can expect as Black In HR continues its expansion. Strong local leadership, intentional programming, and a focus on real connection are central to the chapter experience. As more cities launch, members will benefit from both local engagement and seamless national access.

The Dallas Chapter will officially celebrate its launch on February 26 with a red-carpet event hosted at a high end lounge in Plano. The evening is designed to bring together HR leaders, executives, and rising professionals for an elevated networking experience that reflects the standard Black In HR is setting nationwide.

“This launch party is about setting the tone,” said Ryan Hill, Events Director for the Dallas Chapter and coordinator of the February 26 event. “We are creating a red carpet experience that celebrates Black HR excellence in a sophisticated setting. It is more than a party. It is a statement that Dallas is here and we are building something powerful.”

Membership in Black In HR also unlocks opportunities to take an active role in shaping the community. Members can apply for chapter officer and committee positions, attend members-only events, and gain access to exclusive programming, resources, and networks designed to support long-term career growth.

From Houston to Dallas, and soon Austin, Nashville, DC, New York City, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and beyond, Black In HR is building a connected national community that moves together.

Professionals ready to grow, lead, and plug into a nationwide network of Black HR excellence are encouraged to join Black In HR and become part of the movement shaping the future of leadership in Human Resources.
